Me and my ex are still friends he says he doesn’t want to be with me he’s trying to get his self together and relationships are too stressful but he says things like “don’t give your number out to nobody” or he’s just overly affectionate sometimes do he still have feelings for me?

YOur Ex does still have feelings for you but they are not normal. And, you do not have a lot of background on here so we are guessing. What he seems to be doing is love bombing and rejecting simultaneously. These are controlling behaviors and classic narcissism moves. If he sometimes is highly critical then he is gaslighting which is part of this Controlling process.
