How would you take that?

When you break up with someone do you think you could stay friends or not?

We were together 3 years and broke up 2 months ago due to long distance (it won't change any time soon). I think we are soulmates, and don't want to lose him.

We dated for 3 years, but recently went to long distance. We broke up about two weeks ago and haven't really talked since. It was killing me more not to talk to him so I called and we talked for two hours and I even talked to his family on speaker phone.

He broke up with me. I think he's interested in a coworker which is more the reason for him breaking up, she's closer to him and that's understandable.

If we're soulmates then we'll work out, it is what it is for now. But I am curious if you would talk to your ex for two hours if you didn't still have feelings.

hi. im 18. so long story short i have boyfriend who i love soooo much he treats well we work at the same place and are very close. in the begining everything was great we met each others parents and my mom thought he was great for me. so a couple months later me and my so i thought were my friends decided to go on a little weekend getaway like we usually do every other month. only this time we planned to bring our special someones. i brought my boyfriend and gave him my vcard. long story short my mom found out and my "friends" threw me under the bus. i lied at first and told her he didn't spend the night and that we didn't have sex. but the the truth eventually came out and i confessed. she made me break up with him and cut off all contact. we didn't ofc. deep in my heart ik he was God given and was meant for me. and we decided to just date in secret using our time at work to see each other. their are other factors to this story but my overall question is should you break u because of your parent. i mean ik i shouldn't have lied but i think sometimes love comes with a fight. please if you guys need more clarity to help with my situation ask questions. thank you!

I started to see someone, (we've seen each other for 3 months). His life was getting very stressful, work demands, and a challenging negotiation over finances with his ex. He felt guilty for not giving me what I "deserve" and said he has no emotional reserves to deal with a relationship. He said he needed to get through February. He said if we are meant to be together we will be, said he won't be dating. Off and on he's said he doesn't want me to go away but also says he doesn't expect me to wait. He has a lot of great qualities that I would like in a long term relationship. I feel confused about whether he will get a hold of me in the near future and wonder if I should move on. Thoughts? I do believe he has a stressful life, it's not BS to get out of seeing me. But I also feel swept off my feet and dropped on my head. While I want to have compassion, I tend to put my needs last. At the same time, he's a super guy.. or am I kidding myself? PS I'm over 50 years old.

Even though both are after all the end of a marriage, they are different. Which would you say it's worse?

- Undergoing a divorce with kids involved (either a bitter one, you got cheated on, etc, after all that investment

- You were happily married, love each other, had kids and suddenly your wife/husband got killed either by a terminal disease or an accident (auto accident, in an explosion, etc)

Let's say your ex whom you dated for 5+ years, was in a life threatening accident. Because of the recency of your break-up, you are still on their emergency contact list. The hospital calls you to come in and answer some medical questions because the family cannot be reached. What do you do?
