Do you think of your exes with anger, sadness, or fondness?

i know this varies for your exes but generally for any of them what is the emotion you usually feel? for me it depends on the memory i'm reflecting on

I initially look back with fondness, but then it turns to anger that he didn't realize that he found the one. I cooked for him, appreciated everything he did for me, and I was always emotionally mature in the rare occasion that I needed to assert my needs. And I never tried to change him, as he was perfect. Isn't that what all men dream of having in a woman?

It really depends on who. With most, it’s indifference. With one, it’s anger. With another, it’s compassion.


I wouldn’t get back together with any of them though.


All of those relationships ended for a reason.


The one I have some pity for is the one who wanted an open relationship pretty much. I firmly said no. Then she accused me for being selfish for not letting her to see other people while being with me.


Long story short, I broke up with her because I wasn’t going to pulled into an open relationship I didn’t consent to.


Later, she really regretted her decision to date this other guy she wanted to see. He treated her nothing like how I treated her. She realized she took our relationship for granted.


And I felt bad for her, because she was naive, and had learned her lesson the hard way.


She wanted to get back together.


But, I couldn’t bring myself to take someone back who would call me selfish for not letting them turn our relationship into an open relationship.


They gaslighted me, when THEY were the one actually being selfish by trying to make me seem like the bad guy for setting boundaries.


But, nonetheless, I still have a soft spot for her, because I really loved her at one point in time.


Now, we’d only be friends if she ever wanted to be friends again.


But, again. She painted me as some horrible boyfriend for not wanting to take her back. I suppose she decided to do that to cope with the consequences of her decisions and to let go of me easier.


So I feel pity, compassion, and a bit of melancholy.


She’s married now, and I’m happy for her.


I hope that she has changed as a person, so that she can take care of her husband well, and I hope her husband treats her well too.

I prefer to move on, no harm no foul. Life is too short to hold onto emotional baggage. I say this because I've seen it many times before when people bring that baggage with them into a new relationship and you are constantly having to reassure the person, you are not their ex.

Somedays I miss him and want to hug him, put his head on my chest and forgive his silliness.

Somedays I want to pin him on the wall and make him suffer the way he caused me suffer.

Somedays I just wish him that he will regret his decision horribly and will realize that he has lost something very special and I wish him the sadness of the knowledge that he will never ever have it in his life again.

I don’t think about them much at all tbh.
all my exes were short lived high school relationships. So I don’t really hold much feeling to them tbh.
i do wonder from time to time how they’re doing and what they’re up to now just out of curiosity. But i don’t think of them with any specific emotion

Just fondness, more so for some than others.

If a person has hurt you more than they've cared for you, they don't deserve your anger or sadness. You should look back on how they treated you and feel happy that you don't have to put up with them anymore, and that you've learnt what to avoid.
