Personally, lifting weights is something really important in my life. I love lifting weights and seeing results because it gives me a sense of satisfaction. It also helps assuage some of my insecurities about my looks which allows me to gain more confidence and i'd say I need every bit of it as I can get.
As for girls' views on big and muscular guys (of course I cannot speak for them but this is just my empirical view of the matter), they may see them as somewhat self-centered because the guy is usually obsessed with his looks. They may assume the muscular guy is a douchebag for showing off the muscles.
Another thing to note is that not every girl likes muscular guys. Reading through GaG it seems that a lot of girls actually prefer only a little muscle. I would say a man's height and his face are the most important physical feature to a woman.
I think it's because a lot of girls think a guy that is muscular or ripped is a douche, because they know they cute. So maybe they go after the guys that would seem less cocky & more sweet. By no means am I saying that all muscular guys are douche bags, but too many of them are & they just ruin it for the good ones. & maybe some women don't think a guy that attractive would like a girl like them ( I feel this way lol ) so maybe they feel there is no point in trying
Lol yeah something I've noticed too is that a lot of the guys I find attractive now aren't necessarily buff, but slim and well dressed. I think there's a trend going around where guys care more about their appearance and are overall more put together. Nice hair, nice outfit, nice shoes. :)
everyone has their own personal tastes and preferences, some women may be intimidated by muscular guys. Some women may be repulsed by skinny guys.
I'm not a fan of skinny/thin guys. I say this all the time but I like guys with meat on their bones lol

It's just you. Fit guys still have a ton of appeal and catch a lot of girls looking their way. This is not to say that skinny guys aren't good looking, but guys who are either fit or muscular aren't on the out.
This has been the case for the last 100,000 years, and it's not going away anytime soon lol
Personally I like either, as long as they aren't over muscular. I have found guys of both types that are very attractive.
I am repulsed by skinny guys, give me a chubby or average out of shape guy any day instead of ripped or skinny
