I like taller guys. Not for protection like guys always say, because I can handle myself. I just think taller guys look sexy, of course there are ugly ones to, but hot or average guys who are tall look better than somebody with a similar face and body.
Plus, I'd just feel so frigging weird kissing a guy shorter than me lol. I'm 5'1 anyway, so I haven't met many guys around my height, so it's just really weird when I do.

I'm a very short guy. When I'm going for other men I prefer them anywhere from the same height to much taller. Though honestly I don't mind shorter, I just find it unlikely because I'm five feet tall. When going for women I prefer them to be close to my height. At most six inches taller (preferably) but again height isn't really a make or break

And yet I question even that. I wonder how they found this out? What if more girls were raised by fathers who were shorter than their moms? Would that alter mainstream preferences? Hmm, the mystery.

It's fairly obvious, it's sexual dimorphism. The male average height is higher than the female average height. Testosterone promotes bone growth, estrogen stunts it.

Women that have feminine traits that are promoted by female hormones are seen as more genetically healthy and therefor more attractive. Men that have masculine traits that are promoted by male hormones are seen as more genetically healthy and therefor more attractive.

Short height in men is a subconscious indicator of poor genetic health.

I see. That's just unfair. Height is only one thing. I've met plenty of guys who were very healthy and shorter. So short women are more desirable than tall and are subconsciously seen as healthier? Life is weird.

What about ugly people? People that actually can't control their weight? It's all the same. Life isn't fair. "very healthy and shorter" You misunderstand, I'm talking about genetic health not 'conventional' health.

It's not even close to the same extent with men's preferences since men are programmed to want to spread their genetic material to as many women as possible. Women have to be selective because they're the ones that have to carry the baby for 9 months. So while most men want girls shorter than them, there are still heaps of men that want taller girls or don't care. Whereas the vast majority of women want taller guys. That's why I created this poll and as you can see, it supports my contention on both men's and women's preferences.

Weird? It's actually the opposite, it's natural. We're the weird ones for being the only species to try to socially combat biological preferences when they exist to promote the genetic health of the species.

@Asker height is only a genetic advantage in terms of sexual attraction. It's no more functional than a peacocks's tail. It's not as you say in the interest of humanity for women to choose tall men.

Men are supposed to be taller, that's why the male average is much higher than females and the taller the better to an extent.
