I've been talking to this guy now for abou a week, and he recently ask me to go on a date and I said yes. Well he hadn't brought up anything sex related until tonight. This is our conversation:

Was this too soon for him to ask? He changed the conversation after I answered and I told him that I was waiting for sex and he said he's fine with that, I was just wondering if you think it was too soon of him to ask this? Do you think he just wants in my pants?

Hmm, my knee-jerk reaction is that he obviously does care since he asked. When people put an emphasis on not really caring, it means they do but they just want to make it seem like there's no pressure to answer.

Immediately before that question had you been talking about personal experiences and things leading up to it?

Or did the conversation go from like, "which flavor ice cream so you like?" To "are you a virgin" with no gradual buildup?
If the latter, then it's been on his mind and was important enough to him.

Did he answer about himself? Virgin or not? And does he have a preference? And what's his stance on people who aren't ready for sex. Has he ever pressured a girl, either through force, seduction, or guilt, to have sex with him?

These are all questions you could/should start asking now that the can of worms has been opened.

Before hand he was asking things like my most embarrassing moment, what I look for in a guy, and a relationship, if I ever cheated. Questions like that. After I told him my answer, he told me he wasn't a virgin but was fine with waiting and that in his eyes, I was the perfect girl

If you feel it's too early to bring up sex, then it is. But it seems like the conversation could've been going that way naturally.

You're concerned that's all he wants, it's hard to say. Keep talking and see how much it comes up in the future. Be careful when you meet and don't be in a precarious situation with him alone until you're comfortable.

The perfect girl comment really feels good initially but does it mean if you weren't a virgin, then you wouldn't be perfect? So if you choose to have sex with this guy, he's saying after that, you're no longer "perfect"

If he "doesn't care" then why use your virgin status as an indicator of your value-perfect girl. Does he have a virgin fetish?
