How to hint I want a promise ring without making him feel like he has to?
See, this is part of the problem of why marriage is a bad deal for guys and the women make out unfairly far better. You want an expensive social status symbol to show off to your friends and peers. It has nothing to do with your relationship. Women want money and gifts in return for access to their bodies. So I ask you this, if you want a ring, what are getting for him in return?
@J-Rock I believe in equality. I hate the idea that men are expected to pay big bucks on a stone in order to maintain the relationship with her while she has no obligation to spend any money on him. That is what I am talking about. Many women have the mentality that men should cough up a nice ring because they get access to their bodies as if to say a man's body is worthless to her and she only needs that ring to be happy in the first place.
I hate it too but we're screwed until they create women robots that can carry a good conversation.
It's only only money. It's EVERYTHING.
guys are expected to be taller, better, smarter, and then there is that whole keep them interested thing. etc, etc while women are expect to... breathe? I guess.
It sucks man. SUCKS.
@J-Rock LOL, so true.
Rather than calling it a promise ring just get it with the same intent as getting married. And come up with your own term for why you two got rings.
A promise ring means that it is a promise you will get engaged. If he can't marry after 5 years it is time to move on bc if he wanted to he wo uld have by now.
It doesn't have to be a promise to get engaged. It can be any kind of significant promise. You could even get a promise ring for your best friend and promise that you'll be friends forever. And she said she knew from the beginning of her relationship that he didn't want to get married. She wouldn't be dating him if she wasn't okay with that. A refusal to marriage doesn't mean a refusal to commitment these days. Guys are just scared of what could happen to them on the off chance that they and their partner's relationship went south and they had no other choice but to get divorced. Divorce courts are ridiculously biased against them, and a lot of them see marriage as a danger to their livelihood, especially given how half of all marriages end in divorce.

You can't. We don't understand signs, signals, hints and can't read minds. We only understand words that are plain and simple leaving no room for misinterpretation
I agree with Beyonce
Why do you need a ring or a piece to mean you are committed to each other? Without effort on both of your parts that ring or paper won't help jack shit. Move on from the ring and focus on the relationship or move along
LOL, she wants $5000 on her finger too so she doesn't feel left out.
tell him one of your friends got one from her boyfriend and emphasise how happy she was about it
(and lie about how she gave him the best sex afterwards lol)
If I had a girl for a really longtime I would love to get her a promissory ring. Problem is I sure as hell wouldn't marry again.
What is a promise ring?
it's like engagement but for kids
but really it's just another excuse for girls to have their boyfriends buy them jewellery
