How can a human being not understand when someone is expressing emotions? I am surprised that this is a question. Emotions can be either pleasant or negative. Pleasant emotions expressed would mean, she smiles at him, want to be with him, cherishes his attention. We can be emotional attached to different people, not just girlfriend boyfriend Dynamics. Emotions are thoughts with some additional chemical juices in brains, if you are thinking about the guy most of the time and are happy with him or around him, you are emotionally attached to the guy. Fortunately for him with pleasant emotions.
Hate, disgust, anger are negative emotions. If the girl either experiences these or expresses these emotions then she is emotionally attached in a negative connotation.
Neither of those necessarily mean love. Yeah I have said and received 'love', respectfully from an individual. Just saying so, didn't really turn out to be love. If a girl 'claims' to be in love, personally I would receive it respectfully with gratitude. I am not telling you how.

It becomes tricky if I am not really that into the girl. There is really no good way to handle that situation.

Being emotionally attached does not mean love. Sometimes love means leaving a relationship, like if she is depressed and needs to get help but won't listen to you. When a girl claims to love me, I think more in terms of wanting me all to herself. (In my experience anyway)

I think true love is being able at any moment, to give up everything, including the relationship with them to help them. Real love is so powerful most people don't ever see it, because those kinds of people love so perfectly that they are willing to be hated or degraded to help the one they love.
