Because they thought the guy had a low value but his finding a girlfriend proves that he actually has a higher value than first surmised.
So only then do they realize they've passed on something valuable and want to have what they previously looked down upon.
Because women like men who are in relationships. They showed groups of women photos of men an had them rate their attractiveness. They told the women the men were single.
Then they showed the same photos to other groups of women and told them the men were married. The married men were all rated significantly more attractive.
Because jealousy isn't about love. Jealous is about selfishness. Wanting to keep something to yourself. You don't necessarily have to care about someone to be jealous. Kids will fight Lal the time over toys just to keep them to themselves.
