Why does it bother me my boyfriend used to like “ratchet” women?

He used to like girls who were kind of “ratchet”. This kind of bothers me for some reason. I’m not really like those girls of his past, i don’t party constantly, or do drugs, i don’t engage in illegal behavior, and i am not someone who isn’t pursuing a college degree, or trying to create a decent life for myself.

For some reason, i just feel upset he liked women like that. Especially because a lot of the women he liked/had sex with weren’t the kindest people to him.

Sorry but he is a loser. Only bums like ratchet women. Bum being more of a spiritual mentality as opposed to financial. He's basic and lacks depth of character. These men are just shallow and don't really have much going on up there. It bothers you because you are now emotionally attached to a loser, soul tied to a loser, enmeshing your mind body and soul with a loser and it's hard to break the delusion that is love. But one day when you're out of the delusion you will look back and, after having some distance think, what the hell did I ever find attractive about this guy. You will cringe at the thought of ever being with him. But then you will eventually laugh about it, forgive yourself, promise to not do that to yourself again, and move on. That is a moment of real peace and understanding.

I face a similar situation. Decided I'm better than him and don't want to date someone who surrounds himself with literally prostitutes, alcoholics, ghetto, bad mothers. I don't wish to be the good girl he tried. He can go back to the hood. Rather deal with a man with better standards. If you are bothered I suggest you move on to a man that appreciates a lady.
