Did you ever regret saying "I Love You" to someone?

If yes, why? I only said these words to 1 guy ever, and I think I do regret it a bit🤣 but now I learnt to control my feelings a bit more and to take my time

Oh gosh yes: my dumbass ex! I'm not the sappy, romantic type. Instead, I show my feelings through other means (listening, doing little things for my partner, etc), but that was not enough to placate him. He found it easy to say he loved me- but the feeling was not mutual! If anything, saying it to him felt forced and not right (which in retrospect probably explains why our relationship didn't last).

So I said it a few times just to make him happy... had no feeling or happiness saying it to him at all.

Nowadays, I barely say it to anyone, not even my friends or family. If I say I love someone, I -really- mean it!

No! When I say “I love you” is because I feel it and it’s my feelings towards a person which are true and authentic. When I say it, I don’t expect anything back, not even that that person reciprocates the same words or feelings. 😊

no, I regret not expressing it or not saying "I love you" enough. I don't understand people when the regret saying this... you don't stop loving someone do you? Isn't love unconditional? That doesn't mean you are together, or it will work, but is an expression of what you have to give.

Is it love if it is based upon condition and reciprocation?

No. I've only told one girl that I love her and I wouldn't take it back for the world. We recently broke up, but the experiences we've shared together will never leave me. I can honestly say that, despite how our relationship ended, I'm a better person because of her.

Yes. My guy friend said it to me. He specified it was platonic. I didn't LOVE him, I just enjoyed his company. I sort of said it back because he said it.

I dont love any of my girl friends. I'm just sort of stuck with them because we grouped together in college. I couldn't care less if I ever saw them again. But when we meet for lunch sometimes, they keep hugging and saying they missed me and each other. one girls even calls me bestie. I dont feel the same. At all. I reluctantly say it back and it makes me cringe every time.

The thing is it's not just romantic love, I reserve even the platonic I love yous for only special people. So far I have only ever truly loved my dad and mom, my mom's best friend who is like a second mother to me and my dogs. These people I truly cherish and love very deeply.

Yeah, I was younger back then and I was really excited about the guy we were with. We ended up cuddling in his bed, but didn't have sex. I told him I loved him and he got angry and got me an earful about how I couldn't love him and that I was immature to say so.
I was so embarrassed at that time that I wished the earth would swallow me whole.

I don't regret saying those 3 words to the only person I'd ever said those words to. Mainly because it's taught me what I know now. Just like you, "to control my feelings a bit more and take my time"
