I associate "cute" as more of a feminine quality, so I'd rather be the one calling my girl cute, rather than vice versa. But it depends on context I suppose. If we're being kind of childish and playful with each other then it could be taken as a term of endearment. My ex said I look "cute" when I'm sleeping, or curled up in bed, and that was quite nice to hear. It can go either way, sometimes I'm in more sensitive, 'feminine' side of personality, so the compliment can be endearing. But when I'm in my masculine 'centre', I'd rather she compliment me on my character, or charm, or confidence, or intelligence, or resourcefulness, or fearlessness, or strength, etc, etc. And I'm not a "macho" kinda guy by a long shot, I do have a soft side.
I know I'm cute. Dont need you to tell me.. Lol.
No thats not arrogance. I just dont need nor care for compliments. Its not a boost to my confidence.
Id prefer talking about other things. Or if someone had to talk about me. Don't try to flattet me. Just talk. I don't trust flattery
Well mostly they like it but sometimes its a real surprise coz they would just angry that why i said that
And some just get angry for being called Honey, or Darling
"Cute" is questionable if it's from a guy you're on a date with. You wonder if he's physically attracted to you or if he means cute like a little sister.

It's like saying I'm not man enough to be complimented for anything else. It still feels nice to receive a compliment, cause guys typically only get them on rare occasions, but this one is a bittersweet one to take. Cute means 'I would love to protect and cherish you' basically. A guy shouldn't need to be protected. Its demeaning to be perfectly honest. But the cherished part is nice.
Fair enough. I've been called cute before (Few days ago) and I felt mixed feelings. Guess its not so bad?
For me, cute means what I said above. I have that desire to protect, but I guess that's specific to me.
Most the time I get it, I thank them but don't have more to add to the conversation. If you're trying to engage a lively conversation, avoid dead ends like that. Bring up things that could lead to more topics so you can learn more about the person. Still, nothing wrong with complimenting them like that though, if you've got another topic you want to jump to. It'd definitely be a solid way to abruptly change topics haha unless you're trying to not give them the wrong idea
It depends on the intonation.
Some girls/women use 'cute' as their standard word for attractive. The best looking guy in the world could walk by, and they'd say he's cute. That's a good cute.
Others distinguish between cute vs hot or handsome or whatever. In those cases, cute is normally not great.
I tend to prefer it actually, I prefer a woman who looks at me and thinks something like "awww, he's so cute! I wanna hug him and not ever let go!" rather than "he looks so sexy I want him in my bed!", at least that is how I feel on the whole thing.
Nothing wrong with that.😉
Some men may find it off-putting because it makes them think of kittens, but really, "cute" directed at a person who is older than 18 does NOT mean that in the slightest, lol. It's basically just another way to say "hot" or "handsome" without being as explicit.
guys rarely get complimented for our looks , so when we are it lasts. a month ago i was told i have the face of a movie star and im still riding the confidence boos from it
Towards me, hell no!.
But i say it to guys all the time... well or hot.
I dont see handsome appropriate unless they are dressed up and wearing a suit.
Depends on who is saying it. If it is a relative then I got no problem. If it is a woman I am attracted to, unless she showed previous signs of heavy flirting, I view that as the "nice guy/friend" word.
I mean, I would like "you're handsome" more. but something is better than nothing.
"You're cute" is the same word that she will say to another girl or to a child.
So I take positively, but I don't feel better self esteem.
I like it.
The problem is the context though. It’s what I want to hear from girls, but it’s often not good to hear from girls. Guys like cute in girls so a guy saying cute is very good. But I find girls prefer the aesthetic of “hot” or “sexy” or something excessive like “beautiful”. They tend to steer away from cute and so when they say it to a guy it can comes across as her not being romantically interested.
I like cute but if you’re going to use it, make sure it comes across as flirty.
Yes, I’ve been called it a few times over the years, and it’s never failed to put a smile on my face so far ☺️☺️☺️
First off, why are girls voting on this poll? Second, yes it’s nice to be complimented, but I don’t really know what cute means and it’s kind of vague when women say it
I hope so. I call my boyfriend cute a million times a day but that's cause he is.
I've always assumed cute meant attractive, but not in a sexual way. Something an older woman would say to an attractive boy. At least when not used condescendingly.
It's a bummer hearing it from a woman you're sexually attracted to. Justin Bieber is cute. Jean-Claude Van Damme is not cute.
Its the compliment I receive the most.
Its more to do with my personality I think
It's not a trait I see, I'd prefer something more specific or something about my mind. That said, if its meaning is properly implied with inflection or through non-verbal communication, then it's great to hear as well.
i dont know, when a girl says a guy is cute im assuming she means she only sees him as a friend and totally wouldn't date him but finds something he does cute
The guys who believe it definitely appreciate it. Probably just as much as girls do. I don't believe it so I just roll my eyes and move on.
It can be really ambiguous, but to fix that all you have to do is pay attention to how they say it, how often they say it, and how they look at you when they say it.
What are you, Hitler?
One of the very few times I advocate slapping a woman is when they call you cute.
@Vivaan123 Not a fan of hyperbole, I see.
