What does it mean when a guy puts 'x' at the end of a text?

Question

For context, I was texting this guy I like (he said he likes me too). Recently we've been on bad terms a (he's been a bit cold towards me) and I had a little outburst at him and he didn't even open the messages. I then told him that's it's a shame that I find him kinda attractive and then he decides to open it. He replied with 'I didn't know that u thought I looked good.' I then apologised a day later for the outburst and he seemed less cold and said 'nah it's ok dw about it x.' He used to send x to me when we first started texting. My female friend sends it to me to be friendly, but what does it mean from a guy in this context? Is he just being friendly, or does it mean something else?

It's just a kiss, multiple X is kisses. Remember letters? You know like an email on paper that took a week to arrive via something called a postman. Well letters to family/loved ones and whoever you were fucking at the time were always finished with an X. Love and kisses.

I don't mean to discourage you, but my female friends regularly send me x's and o's. I don't think it means anything.

Then again, dudes don't normally do that. So maybe he wants to hump you. Who knows.

He is just expressing in text form, an warmth and fondness for you. Specially after an argument, letting you know there isn't any hard feelings. We can't read peoples mannerisms or hear a pronunciation through text, a xxx (kiss) is an expression of this.
