What does 'x' mean in a text?

So this guy sent me a message with his name and an 'x' below. His messages are long but he takes a long time to reply (he said he's busy working). If he liked me, he would've messaged me sooner, but then if he didn't like me, why did he put 'x'?

Is it possible he just wants to be friends, or more?

Some people just add them to messages. You can't expect people to reply to your messages asap, people have lives to live. If he didn't respond to any of your messages then that would be something to worry about. Life is too short to be overthinking everything, try to keep yourself busy to occupy your time if your mind takes you places unnecessarily.

I would assume he likes you to some degree otherwise there would be no reason to put that at the end
