Is my boyfriend a wimp?

I am newly dating this guy. I got cat called the other day pretty blatantly. My boyfriend wasn't there, but when I told him, he said he would talk to the guy. I was raised pretty southern and redneck, so I'm used to a lot of guys ready to fight other people. Is it normal that he just wants to talk to the guy and is trying to be civil, or is he wimpy? I don't want to seem like I'm criticizing him because I'm not, I just want to see if the whole growing up with guys ready to fight isn't the norm.

He's not necessarily a wimp he is likely being smart about it. In today's society physically assaulting someone is going to land you in jail and or sued. Yes it would be nice if we lived in a world where we could still just fight someone to settle and issue like this but we dont. people who fight have nothing to loose people that talk have shit to loose so it's not worth it. Only way I am laying hands on another person is if they are assaulting me or my loved ones or I need to do it to defend myself.
