Why do guys use social media to hint?

I known this guy for while, we meet month ago first time in person. We both want to not rush been talking every day since. But he has gotten shorter in text which is normal to me when you get to know someone and taking it slow. But he doesn’t usually post quotes or memes on social media. But lately he has been and seems like it co-insides with things I post. Just tonight I posted meme then he post one saying about” when she is short little on the curvy side and up to date on memes and little bi-polar” and it’s was right after I posted mine. The other day he posted about relationship stuff and does like my response back. But why hint like that when you act distant in text?

So do I read into it or not? Like how to I get him to be more vocal and not hint on social media
