Is it wrong to want to date exclusively outside of your race?

I didn't like dating non-"Black" women who only dated "Black" guys.

It made me feel weird. On several occasions, I felt like they didn't see me. They only saw that I was "Black". I felt like they were looking for the stereotype. I am a lot of different things, but I am not stereotypical.

I am not saying that a woman might genuinely be attracted to a certain look. Kim Kardashian says she likes "Black" men because she likes the darker skin and physical attributes. I get that.

But when they are looking for some nonsensical stereotypical crap, it is just bothersome.

unfortunately there are a sizeable percentage of white women who only date black or Asian guys purely because of stereotypical reasons

tbf i just see it as if their reasons are genuine or whatever they choose in their life, if they are happy, and those they end up with are happy... then fair play :)

I always knew that, as an Asian American man growing up in the United States, I wasn't as desirable or "American" as my peers.

As a kid, I never saw Asian men dating outside of our race, or with white women especially. Non-Asian women felt inaccessible, fueling a preexisting feeling of invisibility -- one driven by micro-aggressions, a lack of representation and, ultimately, stereotypes that painted us as passive, emasculated boys lacking sex appeal and a voice.

If you ran a poll at GaG, the vast majority of women here. . . regardless of race, ethnicity or culture would prefer "White" men.

that would depend on the demographic at the time... and tbf i've lived here and there throughout my life and some area's white guys would have no chance and if they did it would be a tiny percentage of women... whereas other places were more white guy preferred, other places were black guy preferred and some were Asian guy preferred, it was a rarity that there was a place that was more balanced...

And that the results at the same at basically any dating site that does not discriminate on the basis of race. In America, "Whiteness" is the standard for men and women. It is terrifying to see "White" men routinely be in the privileged position of being the most desired. . . but pretending they are not. It shows a dangerous disconnect with society.

Did you know that even as "Black" people are not desired in many places. . . they desire each other in Africa?

I live in the UK and, after speaking to women from Asian communities many of those who choose to date outside of their ethnic background the common reason is down to them not being treated right...
philipino, thai, chinese, japanese women i've spoken to over the years they all said due to their culture the men tend to be more controlling and restrictive towards them... an old friend of mine was dating a thai woman who said she refused to date anyone else from her country, as they never treat women like people, where as western guys always treat women far better...

If what you say is true, different ethnic groups would have a higher rate of out-marriage among the women.

They don't. It isn't even close. South Korea for example, has the vast majority of intercultural marriages are between Korean men and foreign women. Whether they be Asian or not. Which of course, does not matter. It only matters to raciologists.

Is it wrong? Ultimately no. People have their reasons to date the people they date. Maybe it's just because some stereotype, maybe it's only to keep some certain appearance. When it come to what others think of this, I usually want to hear it from the affected group. Probably the worst thing to know is that the girl you like is dating you just because of your melanin content.

At the end of the day, it's her life and she's free to do whatever she wants and accepting the outcomes.

It's not wrong, but I personally considered it pretty closed-minded. This is different from a "preference." I'm black and have a strong preference for white girls (then Hispanic and Indian). But saying "I would never date [x] people" is a bit unfair and short-sighted.
