People think oh it's only 3 years no big deal. 17 year olds are typically super immature. I still see 17 year old girls running around the mall with no money just being annoying yelling and being loud and just bothering people. I think 13-17 is a really crucial time for teens to find themself. Anything under 20 I wouldn't even bother. When I was 20 I'd probably stick to other 20 year olds, I'd just prefer the level social and personal responsibility level, and relatability. A lot happens in those 3 years

DM and tell him you want to meet up so you can actually get to know. See where it goes. My guess is he's just not that interested or he would have pursued you in the first place. Don't you think a guy that has high interest would? Or do you think he's just incapable? And if so, my guess is you'd be bored out of your mind.
If he's being "influenced" by his peers not to date you, and he's listening to them, he's not worth the time. How stupid is that? When you're 20 and in college, dating a HS girl seems totally lame. But 3 years age difference is nothing. When he's 23 and you're 20, he'll kill to date you. So... lose him for now.
If he's smart he wouldn't. I'll be 20 in a month, and I refuse to date anyone under 18 because if im dating a girl I will be tempted to do things with her that people who are dating normally do. And if I was dating someone under 18 and made the mistake of going farther then I should and someone finds out. Then I'm fucked, because that's illegal. Its honestly just not worth the trouble of it. So I'd wait till she was 18 before even considering a relationship of any kind
As long as it's legal where you live (assuming there is sex involved), and it probably is, no problem. I don't think that age match would deter any man from dating someone.
If there is no sex involved, there is no issue, there shouldn't be any reason he wouldn't date you.
Some of my high school classmates had boyfriends that age or older when they were 16 or 17. It's a bad idea, though.

In Brazil it is normal to see relationships between people of that age, including relationships where they already have children, I believe that in the USA it is prohibited, but as it is just a message I do not see anything strange.
