No, it's more complicated than that. First, as a Clinical Psychologist, we don't use the terms "sociopath" or "psychopath" anymore. They are both subsumed under the proper term "Anti-Social Personality Disorder" or ASPD.

Second, not all people with ASPD are "losers". Most CEO's at least have ASPD traits, if not the full disorder, as do many politicians, lawyers, and police. From a monetary standpoint, you can hardly call these people "losers".

The DSM V summarizes ASPD this way:

"Antisocial personality disorder (ASPD) is a deeply ingrained and rigid dysfunctional thought process that focuses on social irresponsibility with exploitive, delinquent, and criminal behavior with no remorse. Disregard for and the violation of others' rights are common manifestations of this personality disorder, which displays symptoms that include failure to conform to the law, inability to sustain consistent employment, deception, manipulation for personal gain, and incapacity to form stable relationships."

I would add that people with ASPD have a marked lack of empathy as well and can be exceedingly dangerous. It is also important to note that ASPD cannot be treated successfully.

No. Some sociopaths are quite successful, though ones in treatment have repeatedly flamed out. Some are quite happy.
