Wow, that really fucking sucks.
To be honest, the best route is humility: allowing your character to speak for itself over time, and accepting the fact that she doesn't trust you.
There really isn't a way around this, without making you look worse. If you try to force-expose the other girl, you may end up making yourself look worse in the process.
Being as honest, transparent, and understanding as possible is the only thing you really can do. Being candid about the other person, and advising her to ask other people for validation as well will help. Her character will show for itself too over enough time.
Just be patient. Sorry, man.
