Why he wants to talk to me on phone rather than texting?

We have met 3 years ago when I was living abroad but we were not even friends and he has a girlfriend. Then, i moved backed to my country. After 1-2 years he broke up with his girlfriend and we started to talk on ınstagram for no reason. I have not even liked him when we were classmates. Anyway, now I moved couple of months ago the country he lives in and we still talking sometimes on Instagram. Since couple of weeks he tried to call me or video call me. ı have never answered bcs, I am not sure of him and myself and I know even they are not in a relationship he sometimes sees his ex. He told me I want to talk to you, and answer when I call you next. Why you think he wants to call me and talk. Is it a good sign?
