Is there actually a rule to how expensive a wending ring should be?

Someone told me it had to be x times your salary.

I actually never heard that before. But another person said the same, altough the x was different.

I'm wondering if this common?

Just for the record. I already bought a ring and we decided the budget together.

My girl doesn't even want a too expensive one as she likes wedding rings to be a bit more modest (easier when wearing it daily)

I actually played quite a bit more for the engagement ring.

No, that whole "6 months pay" or however much it's supposed to be is just something a jewelry store owner made up one day because he realized people had no clue how much diamonds *should* cost so he just made up a number. And if your gonna demand more money you might as well demand A LOT more.

It is pretty much BS. If she doesn't want to marry you, or does, the band that seals the deal shouldn't matter.

Bullshit! You can use a brass curtain ring if you so want. It is not the value that has meaning, but of what the ring represents. Save your money for something more important!

Yea i get that, the ring is already bought by the way.

It's just i never heard about this rule in 30 years but now i heard it a couple of times
