Why does my boyfriend treat me like im stupid?

My boyfriend treats me like im new to a lot of things and that I'm stupid. He will teach me things that i already know how to do (and he knows i know how to do it).

i had an ex boyfriend who wasn’t an idiot but he was forgetful and would stress out a lot and panic and do things wrong because he suddenly stopped thinking, I always had to be like double check everything. He would get annoyed at me being like I’m not an idiot. Anyway one day I thought okay don’t baby him, he wants to be treated like a capable adult okay. We are going to his gym. It’s not my gym. So it’s his responsibility to remember the key since it is a 24 7 gym and we were going after hours so needed the key,
i knew he would forget the key, but I knew if i was like okay have you packed the key he would get angry and say I’m not stupid, anyway we drive there get out and he goes oh shit I didn’t bring the key.
Anyway that’s a silly example. But I feel this is in all areas of life. He isn’t very capable of dealing with life and being an adult. Almost like he acts like a child. Like the child never needs to remember the key, the adult does. So it’s not really about intellect that I need to explain everything to him. It’s that he isn’t capable of dealing with adult life. So rather than me having to fix everything he stuffs up I prefer to overly explain. He never understood how annoying it was for me to do damage control. All he noticed was how annoying it was for me to treat him like he was stupid.
