Going on a first date swimming. What should I wear? Are a rashguard and shorts too prudish?

Our first date will be at the beach swimming. Is it inappropriate to wear a revealing swimsuit? I was thinking of wearing a rashguard and shorts but would that be too prudish? How about a bikini bottom paired with a rashguard?
