Trending & News That family sounds pretty dysfunctional if you ask me, and that dude really let’s his parents dictate his life like that? That’s sad although I get sometimes it’s a culture thing. Still there comes a point where you have to be independent. Sorry that happened to you, I think you should probably move on unless your boyfriend grows a pair and stops giving af what his parents think
sounds like this is not the full story... people just don't throw police at you for "no reason" and grown-ups just don't get "reduced to nothing" just like that...
That's the only reasons, the police refute to file a case against me because the reason wasn't valid. No one can prosecute someone just because one comes from a dysfunctional house. The man that I love does have some growing up to do but tbh as an independent and strong woman their deeds got me anxiety and depression now I imaging my boyfriend what he must be going through given that he is weaker than me.
sounds like a very intrusive family, and probably one with influences... I've seen that happening, and I think it's best to stay away... even if he managed to stand up for himself and against them it would take a lot of drama and strain, and he would have done it himself time ago... chances are he just can't do it or he does not want to do it... it sucks but, with people or families that do not care one bit to file a report against you with police or authorities, I see that as a clear sign and indication that they really want you away, it's a warning.
You guessed it right, it's a very influential family and my exbf cannot act much, when his parents pointed out our flaws- humiliation in public. My own family did not want to retaliate because we knew it was a loss battle. I will stay away but I feel sad for my exbf, his parents are too controlling- if we are meant to be together we will be together, who knows...

Thanks :)
Assuming that he's also between 20-25 years or older than you, I would wonder why are his parents controlling him like a kid and why can't he make decisions on his own. I would also wonder if I've been dating a grown-up man or a child.
this is what the policeman told me. if at the age of 27, his parents are controlling his life it will never be a good relationship. Now I understand why he used to hide things from his parents (we are Asians so we both still live with our parents) but I am more independent than he is. You are probably right he still have some growing up to do.
Then you did the right choice in moving on. Any grown-up that lets their parents dictate whom they should date isn't ready to be in a relationship.
thanks... who knows maybe now that he is on his own, he will start working on himself and become a stronger man 🤞
I wouldn’t let my parents dictate who I date. My dad rejected my boyfriends age at first - but my dad actually likes my boyfriend now because he actually went out of the way to create a relationship with my dad

In my case I would only ignore them. Both of them have awful instincts.
They are high status and very rich people. And they pass down their inheritance to the next generation which is why they behave as such
