If it's on the first date without many conversations, I would feel like he might do that on every first date he has been on.

If I've known him for some time and it's not the first date, yeah, I would feel that it is really sweet.

Although I'm not a fan of roses, I prefer other types of flowers.
If the relationship is young and fresh I would appreciate the thought and wouldn't nitpick it.

If it was a long-term relationship I might be disappointed he didn't know that, depending on whether we've talked about it.
