If a man gives her flowers, does that mean he is romantically interested?

This guy from work wants to give me flowers. I have heard from his buddies that he has the hots for me, but then he says stupid stuff like how he wants to piss this other guy off at work ( who has a crush on me) and give the flowers to me in front of him. Why? Is he trying to claim me in front of him? And if so, does this mean he is not really interested in me and only doing this for the games? Why do men play these dumb games?

Yeah, guys don't typically go out of their way to get a girl flowers. "Claim" is pretty strong and perhaps not the right term for it... "Appreciate" is more accurate. (Claim would be if he took you right there in the office in front of everyone...)

Why men play dumb games is a WHOLE OTHER story requiring a bottle of tequila to explain and laugh about...

I'll share one story and you'll be happy you got the flowers...

I have one friend (she's an accountant) who was being courted by another friend (he's an engineer). We'll call them Jenny and Bob. To paint the general picture for you, both wear glasses, neither is much of a "looker" and both are ridiculously intelligent... this happened when she was a matronly ~35 and he was a ~40 starting to go grey and color his hair "for the ladies" 🙄🫣. Jenny was always very stingy with her time and attention and, being in her mid/late 30s was beginning to set up a permanently single life for herself when Bob came along (REALLY awkward with women, sarcastic as hell in general, and maintaining a steady kick-em-in-the-teeth attitude with all his guy friends).

One afternoon Bob casually asks Jenny what signs a guy could give a girl to show his sincere appreciation and affection for her. She shrugs and says "I don't know... maybe send a really nice thing of assorted flowers to her office. It tells her that he took the time to pick out something special for her." So he asks her, "Why the office and not her home?" and she answers "For show... If it's a girl YOU like she probably hasn't gotten many gifts sent to the office."

After much deliberation Bob does send something to Jenny's office... An enormous crate containing 24 5lb bags of assorted flour (that's a 120lb monstrosity that had to be specially delivered by a whining UPS guy wearing a special weightlifting belt around his waist) and a card asking "Will you go out with me?"

Six months later these to idiots were engaged... three months later they were married. They now have a lovely baby girl.

So... be thankful he didn't send you a 120lb monstrosity... Just accept and enjoy the f-ing flowers.

You are lucky it is just flowers. Some men will go way beyond that.

Hmm it does seem like this guy might be interested in you romantically if he's giving you flowers. That's usually not something a guy does for a girl he's just friends with.

However, his comment about wanting to make the other guy jealous is a bit of a red flag. It does come across like he's trying to stake some sort of claim on you or assert dominance over the other guy, rather than genuinely wanting to show you affection.

My advice would be - thank him for the flowers but keep your guard up a bit. See how he acts when it's just the two of you together without the other guy around. If all he talks about is the other guy and tries to provoke a reaction, he may just see you as a prize in their game/competition instead of truly liking you.

But give him a chance - ask him casual questions about his interests and see if he seems engaged in getting to know you better in return. His true motives will become clearer over time. For now, just enjoy the flowers but don't get swept up in the games or drama!

Let me know if his behavior keeps revolving around the other guy instead of you. Then I'd be more skeptical of his intentions being honest interest in you specifically. Trust your gut feeling too!
