For singles what are the reasons for choosing to be single?

I was single for a long time after my divorce.
I called it my second childhood.
We were both 21, too young, never lived on our own, so it just didn't last.
I changed my career before we got married, which worked out well for me, so I was young, had money, did what I wanted to do, came and went as I wished, was always taking a motorcycle trip, I could pretty much get laid when ever I wanted to, the 70's & 80's were great, and for whatever reason I just had no desire to have a family of my own.
Now that I am older I really have no regrets about my life.
I've done a lot, accomplished so many things that I never thought that I could, I have made a difference in many people's lives, lots of friends, and now that I am retired I can come and go as I please.

Couldn't find someone that meets my standards and I wouldn't settle for someone I wouldn't be happy with for long term. I only want exclusive and long term, so the people that want casual stuff are unacceptable to me.
The last couple years I have been too busy to realistically maintain a relationship so I haven't tried at all. If I meet someone I was compatible with the most I could do is be together one day per month, likely for a year from now.

The bible says it’s better to be single than to be in a bad or sinful relationship so I choose single hood until the right person comes along.

Who said I chose it? It's COMPLETELY out of my hands!! If it WAS by choice, it'd simply be because of a lack of money (temporarily) and not having a car (hopefully, also temporarily). Also, the person I'd most love to spend the rest of my life with lives about 6000 miles away in Bulgaria! I seriously doubt I'll ever see her or talk to her again but, there's always a spot of hope (In fact, that's her name, Spot, NO!! I mean, Hope!!)

To illustrate why I'm single: I'm 6'3 and not born with a silver spoon in my mouth. If I had to choose between unreliable cars spacious enough for me to fit in comfortably, and cars that would last forever but are too cramped for space for me to be able to operate safely, I'd choose neither; I wouldn't buy a car at all.

I don't & didn't choose to be single. I just have horrible luck with romance and current dating society really sucks for men right now with hookup culture being most of what is looked for, even online dating is garbage especially with how men are treated on dating sites & apps

Well for me it's only partly choice and largely nobody there (no options at all) lol. But it is nice only having to think of myself and not have any "drama' that could come from a relationship. And I'm glad I'm not in a bad one, or one I don't want to be, just to say "I'm in one".
