Trending & News Very little experience with dating sites, I did meet up with a girl one time for a couple of dates and she insisted on meeting me at the date site. Always very public places.
I'm fine with that, I understand I'm a stranger and all that. Safety matters, never been an issue for me... but in getting to know each other, we found out her brother worked for the same company that I did, in a different department at the time and then she ghosted me after that.
Talking with her brother, I did not let him initially know we had gone on two dates but he seemed surprised she was online as she isn't single. He didn't want to make her look bad, trying to cover for her without knowing all the details. You know some siblings do that, no matter what... I did let him know eventually that we had gone on two very public dates, no kissing, no nothing... just getting to know each other and he seemed irritated with her for not letting him know. I sort of called them just hanging out rather than dates to try to not cause a issue. Technically that is true for what happened.
I do wonder what would of happened IF her brother wasn't in the same building as me, would I have been the unknowing other guy? not sure if she was married or just with someone or what as we only made it on two dates. Maybe she was looking to switch or upgrade and wanted to find someone else to just make a move without them knowing.
Other than her, never met anyone else online. In fact the vast majority of my experience was being ignored, AKA send off messages and nothing. I'm also terrible at setting up profiles, I could spent a 100 hours doing everything as good as I could and get no where... or use basic stuff and do nothing and have the same effect.
Granted, this was all somewhere between 2005 and 2008ish, don't recall exactly before I just gave up with the online stuff. Went old school, flirting in person, being setup on blind dates by friends, etc...
That whole experience you went through with her was very shady. She wasn’t single in the first place and then disappeared when she found out there was a mutual person who knew both of you. I’m sure her reason for doing that is because she knew her brother would out her for being a cheater. Even if she didn’t do very much with you, she shouldn’t have had a profile or been going on dates in the first place. And you might not have even been the only guy she was meeting with from the dating site.
More bad & dumb than good. I haven't touched a single dating site nor an app in about 1 year.
If I'm honest I knew what I was getting into.
Dating these days doesn't really resemble previous dating styles.
Since we live such a fast life.
But umm it was a massive eye opener for me. People can be sooo pumped up and excited. They'll say anything and do anything to get their way.
But I wasn't prepared for the fact that tinder is being used as a networking opportunity, if they so happen to get sex too, that's great, it's almost like the cherry on the cake.
It's all incredibly strange now...
Umm I didn't have that. The two men that suggested meeting for coffee the first was trying to promote his djing night... I was going to go but he tried to arrange the coffee for after the event so I suspected if I didn't go There'd be no date... (There'd be no date anyways)
The second guy was over dressed, for Sunday tea. Initially he was trying to talk but seemed to be suffering anxiety with the noise from the children at the table behind us, he kind of threw a little tantrum. And asked to move, so I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt (strike 1) turns out he was a liar, he was older than he said, wasn't of mixed heritage, he told me he liked black girls and proceeded to take the piss out of my culture, I'm sure he thought he was being funny by trying to do a Jamaican accent, started talking disgustingly about another date, he had with a woman he clearly fancied more than me, insulted me saying I didn't make enough of an effort with how I was dressed.
I calmly told him off, that j appreciated that first meetings and dates can be awkward but that he just wasn't conducting himself in a way I could get along with. I got up to leave he apologised and asked if he could to correct his behaviour.
He walked me towards the station which conveniently was were he parked his car. It was a nice car. I think he thought this would be the last thing that would win me over. As I said goodbye he pulled me in for a kiss and I obviously rejected his advances. Yikes!
He just didn't do it for me.
I don't know if people know how to be relaxed and "normal" anymore. If you do behave in this manner they actually refer to you as a sociopath... (even though they're not qualified to do so)
Bad.
Guys don’t keep their end of a conversation going, I dislike 👎 finding human connection through a device - doesn’t make sense, guys that have kids see them on weekends or just once in a while, they live with their parents or their slobby roommates, they’re still married or looking for something just in the bedroom, they’re new to town, passing by or just broke up with their ex; it’s just another task on my to do list that I don’t have energy for. Nothing worth it at all.

My experience has been awesome but I do this for a living. Most should stay off the apps especially when they are not willing to invest in them.
Getting good photos taken, having a well written bio, upgrading so you can unlock all aspects of what the app has to offer. Dating apps are a business first. They are giving you a preview with their "free version." If the free version worked for people they would be out of business.
Most people who say online dating doesn't work... actually mean... the FREE online dating preview of the app doesn't work. It's not supposed too.
@coachTanthony
This is sort of off the topic, but it has to do with dating. Do you think people are so toxic that it's almost impossible to find a healthy relationship these days? And all those mental illnesses and mental health issues. Like people are so self-absorbed, or so defensive, or they have combative personality types
@Cathy7734 No not at all. People have to develop their "picker." Most pickers are broken for a lot of people. They allowing these toxic people to stay in their lives too long. People just need to learn how to VET better. Mental illness and toxicity isn't going away so people need to learn how to recognize it and move past that onto someone who is healthy.
None of the above. Over 10 years now since being introduced to online dating , never have I actually ever met anyone or harvested any fruit from it. For most part the majority of sites are bot operated profiles that message to lure one into buying a subscription at which time all accounts activity was from suddenly fall silent. Or scammers posing with fake profiles.
There are several good sites to consist of mostly actual people and profiles but you're dead in the water unless you pay the chat pimp. Who does that?
Paying a man over here to let me speak to the girl over there is equal to getting punked outta my lunch money by the neighborhood bully every morning lol, if they wanna be pimps they better be selling more than conversation.
It's Bs, I can see someone I know or familiar with from my own town but have a mf sitting offshore somewhere step between us to say pay him or no talking to her.
I am a person of many many words and write a lot to include poetry. No , I'm not normal everyday typical, I'm real, keep it real in persistence to be myself so I am often seen as arrogant or weird or smooth talker of shit to be dismissed with an eyeroll and ghosted.
That's ok though, and still I say what I say regardless because I'm secure and know I stand ready to back my words as I am very much literal in what I write and say.
Commonly, profiles say she seems someone real and down to earth, yet when someone throws out some real shit everyone scatters like roaches. Because fun is what they actually are seeking and keep the guys hanging as they hold out in the thought that something better is just around the corner.
Yet rude guys, mean, nasty and/or simple not so brights who are talking actual shit talk easily meet women that they use, abuse, or disrespect.
I bet if I made a headline saying... brrrrp, get me a beer bitch, it would likely score results.
I quitt tinder when I was at youth work and one underaged girl asked me if I have found a girlfriend yet. I asked her how did she know I was looking for one and she said she saw me in tinder.
I never saw her profile and never clickef green on underage girls unless they have had fake profiles with fake pictured and age. But the idea of 13-14 year old girls at schools and youth clubs being aware of staff profiles on dating sites is creepy.
This is why date sites and apps should have credit card or even police verifications to keep out all kinds of people with wrong reasons to be there.
When I was 13-14, we did fantaside of sex with pretty teachers, hot moms, and so on. Even in adulthood we still laugh at sketch comedy about pretty white women filling teenage dreams we had... BUT in reality, it is equally as low as if the genders would be reversed in the same case. In reality there have bern cases were underaged girls and boys have succesfully seduced adults and gotten their 15 minutes of fame, but those girls and boys dont understand or care about the ramification of their actions.
Such behavior only ruins the reputations of their families and all staff in all career fields that are present in the life of such teenagers. Each of those cases only atract predators. There is nothing romantic, nothing epic in sexual relationships between underaged teens and adults, with or without their consent.
For me, it is a love/hate relationship. The thing is, online dating has more cons than pros for the majority of men. It is 99% about looks. And even though people tell me I have a great body and am 'handsome', I don't consider myself to have won the genetic lottery either (especially being under 6'0). I've had success with online dating to the point that has lead to one night stands or even relationships. Would I say I find it ideal? No. Am I proud of using it in its current state? No.
I simply knew my way around it because I have invested time in researching female nature as well as online dating dynamics as a whole. What I like the most about online dating is that you easily get to connect with people who are outside of your environment and social circle. This was mainly the reason for me to use it as well as getting closure to know who "likes" you and who doesn't.
Despite my success with online dating, I still answered with "No". The reason for this is despite having success, I still had to go through all the cons of online dating which can get frustrating at times. It simply does not hold a candle to someone you have met and are getting to know in real life. Although I would still choose it over 'cold-approaching'. But that's just me.
Between the ghosting, hookup offers, vague replies that give nothing to work with, & the false positives (match then unmatch); guys get treated like crap on dating apps as the algorithm doesn't allow for dislikes otherwise we dont get shown on any swipe feed, get tons of scammers, women that want guys to pay them to go on dates, hookup only women, solicitation, ads, fake profiles, ghosting profiles, and women who won't reply at all. Next to none of those we match with want to actually date, and trying to get to know them is like pulling teeth or talking to a brick wall. Granted, offline has been about as bad with women walking off mid-conversation or just not adding anything to work off of for a conversation... dating has gotten much harder over the years as people desocialize from interacting with others. And i do get it from females side, many guys are insecure bastards who can't take no for an answer, or they are just super toxic... which sadly many people don't think to self reflect and see themselves from a 3rd person perspective to recognize their own toxic traits and actions.
Mostly bad. I've been on popular ones and some others. One some joining was free but an upgrade was necessary to chat. Within an hour of joining, I had at least six messages. All were trolls, bots or cons to get me to upgrade. Many real ones were looking for sugar daddies or were escorts.
Many faked part of their profile which became obvious as we chatted. Several met for coffee, but one of us decided not to date.
I had a few first dates. Some had a lot of drama and resentment. One said I wasn't metro enough for her.
There was one good thing. I took two of the women to a somewhat upscale restaurant I've been in a couple of times previously. Both times the same waitress took our orders. A week after the last date, I stopped in that restaurant and had a drink at the bar. That same waitress was there, we got to chatting, now we're dating.
I like the concept, but in reality they're swamped with fake profiles, and lots of cookie-cutter clowns who all have the exact same profiles with different, sometimes heavily edited pictures. There's also an abundance of foreigners obviously looking for a green card.
I never recorded numbers but if I had to guess, probably less than 0.5% of profiles were even worth "liking" on most free apps, and a lot of the paid apps really aren't much better. If you happen to time it right, you might get lucky, but I'm convinced that meeting people unexpectedly rather than out of an online catalogue is better.
I have been on and off them for years. All three last gfs I had were met online.
Anyway I’ve seen a continual drop off in quality in the last few years. But at the same time options are limited. I don’t live on a college campus with tons of single women walking around. The stupid pandemic made everything worse when it comes to socializing. So a guy my age either had to make it a full time job socializing to find women (and I’m busy doing actual work) OR I have to get on dating apps. And swipe and swipe and swipe. Probably out of a 1000 swipes I might find one decent woman. Most are fake, not interested, cam girl
scams, foreign women who pretend they are local, etc. Just a huge sess pool that has sporadic oasis’s.
I wish women could understand what it’s like for men on this. Sure some guys are scumbags, creeps, etc. But most aren’t.
Anyway I matched with a girl on bumble. We got a date planned tonight. Crossing my fingers she’s real and doesn’t flake out.
Bumble girl inexplicably unmatched me and also blocked me on WhatsApp. I never brought up sex. I kept it light and funny. All I asked if we were still on for the date earlier in the day (I has to make reservations and plans).
There was a chance she was fake. But those people usually ask you to visit links or other bullshit. Either that her mind changed like the wind. I’m really not hoping it’s the latter.
Anyway for you cunts out there who do this to guys fucking QUIT IT. If you change your mind about the date just politely let the guy know.
@Cathy7734 i used pof years ago. Actually met one of my past gfs on there. But the last time i went there the options seemed crappy. But maybe I should look again
As for Match i tried it briefly. I was really turned off by all the up sell bs. But I guess I should try again.
I know Match. com and POF are a crapshoot and the odds are against men. But what else can a person do? Guys complain all the time at the college I go to about meeting women. They claim ALL women have their guard up. So when someone says forget about dating apps - go out and meet someone... I think they have lost touch with reality. Men have such negative attitudes about women and women have such negative attitudes about men at the college I go to.
@Cathy7734 your 18 and female. Your reality is very different than mine.
I can remember being 18. Things weren’t all golden but there were s multitude of opportunities. I confess that i wish i could back then knowing what know now.
Anyway back to dating apps. I 100% agree that “So when someone says forget about dating apps - go out and meet someone... I think they have lost touch with reality.” That is absolutely spot fucking on. Thank you. Opportunity can come from anywhere at anytime. Why shut down that avenue.
But as for s guy my age I literally have to use dating apps. It remember them working better 5 to 8 years ago. But I’ve noticed a change in female attitudes. This is not just for young women but also for grown ass women close to my age. There is this “embrace your emotion” attitude that if you feel even inkling of paranoia of guy then run, block him and don’t ever tell him why. Don’t give him the common courtesy of canceling the date or breaking off a relationship. Just ghost.
I had one ex girlfriend (who i dated for 9 months) completely ghost and block me after a minor argument. Truth is I didn’t think things would last forever (she was 21 and i was 33) but still i didn’t see ending that way
Also I have a former “gal pal” who (at then 30) told me she was going to stand a guy up just because he called her “babe” twice in a text message. I read the whole thing. He was being flirty but never mentioned sex or anything creepy. I told her it was okay for her to cancel the date but at least take 10 seconds to give him the f*cking courtesy of saying she couldn’t make it. I told her she could even block him immediately afterwards but let him know. He might of rearranged his entire schedule for her.
It turns out he texted her to cancel the date. She was acting all relieved that she didn’t have to have the confrontation. I was like “you see. He had the courtesy to let you know he couldn’t make it. What were you planning to do?”
Anyway sorry for the long text. But honestly I don’t remember things being this way 10 years ago. There really is something going on in society. It’s a combination of digitalization, hypergamy and modern feminism that’s bringing out the worst in women
And this attitude is self destructive. That guy you stood up or blocked might of very well been a very good opportunity. Someone special. It could of been a fun fling, a good boyfriend and even possibly a decent husband. Smdh
It seems to me a person would have a better chance of meeting someone on a dating website, like Match. com, POF, and eharmony than on a dating app, such as tinder. Maybe it's because a person has to put in time, energy, and effort on dating sites compared to dating apps. Dating apps are simple and quick to use.
@Cathy7734 that’s a good point.
When I was single, after my divorce, I met several women on dating sites, and had several nice dates. A few lasted a couple months. My SO and I met on a dating site, and we've been together for a couple years with no end in sight.
So am I. :-)
Did I get any dates? No. Was it traumatizing and had a negative effect on my self-confidence? No. I don't know how to flirt. I am learning, which is kind of pointless seeing as I have a girlfriend who will probably remain my girlfriend until she's my fiancée and then wife. So if you know how to flirt and choose the right site for you, you can be successful.
I never tried dating apps but I rather not used dating app. To many weirdos and creeps. I is best to meet face to face in person I am old school. That is just my opinion. That would be looking for trouble. No if I am meeting a guy it will be in person.
I would be about a 6 maybe a 7 guy. I felt on tinder I was treated badly and noticed women are far nicer in real life. I get 2-3 women a day check me out and 0 luck on dating apps. Maybe I just take a bad picture I dunno.
The algorithm is there to keep you on it not find you success.
on dating apps if you find success you will leave. If you stay you pay a monthly subscription. They want you to stay looking.
Mostly good, but you do have to deal with a lot of desperate men or men looking for a hookup (which is something I am not interested in). Nevertheless I have met some really nice men online, in fact I have met the guy I am currently dating online thanks to COVID.
It's a lot of desperate men to get through, but the few quality men I've matched with and met in person made for an overall good experience. Be prepared to sort through a lot of crap and learn how to look for red flags early on in a conversation (without over analysing of course) and you'll be fine.
I've never been on any, and I'd very much like to keep it that way. 😆
Its been boring. Guys wanna see my pics. I don't wanna show them. Im attractive but i want to meet IRL. Not send pics and share my pics with people online thats stupid and a waste.
Take me on a date.
Its just one big ploy with many men online to get pics and more pics and sexy pics and nude pics from a woman. Its boring and stupid. They need to grow up and become men with something of value to offer us.
Bad. They're mostly full of people no one wants to date. Relationships and dates I've had from them all disappointed me in the end over the years. I'm never going back to them. Only trying in person now out in public.
My experience with the people on the sites has been good. But my view of the sites themselves is bad; because they're way too damn greedy. I'm pretty sure I've probably missed like 100 really good matches per year (for the last 15 years now, so that means hypothetically 1,500 missed chances at finding my wife) just because I'm unwilling to play their silly random games. Unlike Obama and Biden, I don't negotiate with terrorists.
@Jamie05rhs I’ve been using it for years and never paid anything. I can still match with people and do messaging. I’ve never had any problems with being blocked from things.
But you can't see who liked you.
terrible. dating sites are nothing but a shit show full of bitches that are full of themself, which i'm not blaming on them entirely cause they must logically think, they have immense value due to all the men throwing dick pics at them. i think dating sites/apps are bad for mental health. for both genders.
@Flower7 it's been kinda bad I guess. I haven't had much success on them except for when I met my first girlfriend. So I stopped using them I just moved states so I wanted to start using them again. I will make a tinder and see how that works for me. I don't mind paying for premium since most don't work if you don't.
I once made an tinder account and I put a picture of me
and the next day I got 83% matches is this good? and why some girls are talking weird like just talk like you would talk to me in real life
Bad.
Too many asshat men ruin it for the ones searching for an actual relationship.
More often than not too, people simply won't respond to your messages at all. Not even to tell you they are not interested.
It feels like it's just a waste of time.
Usually I can’t find matches or I’ll match someone, have a quick conversation and then they unmatch me
I think they just don’t find me that interesting. I’m always kind of shy around strangers even through text
I found a girl that I had more in common with then any other girl I've ever dated. We were together for 5 years. I also had a catfish as well. The problem is that people get on dating sites treating it like real life. They are only on thier for looks. When you message them they give you 1 sentenced answers and ask nothing of you. U learned a lot from dating sites. 1: if the energy isn't there move on. I couldnt chase a woman if my life depended on it.
I honestly don't believe normal people use dating sites or can navigate through the bumps, scammers, catfishers, and perverts to truly connect.
But they apparently work great for hook ups if you are a person can make the list.
I've not had any bad experiences on dating sites so I voted good. Just because I have had no success doesn't mean I never will...
I'm the most optimistic suicidal person you're likely to meet :)
Met a nice couple on a site called SDC Swingers Dating Club. Went to their apartment, (this was more than two years ago before the 'plague') I enjoyed them, I ate his wife's pussy and he got to fuck her, afterward. I was so nervous I could not get a hard-on (even with Viagra)
I have made a few friends from them. One still hangs around.
You got it
I didn't use a dating app since 2014 and my experience is very likely less relevant today, it was good in finding hookups but very bad in matter of finding normal girls.
As bad as regular dating, so ok I guess. It's my own fault that I'm single.
I'd say overall good, but have had some interesting experiences to say the least too.
Ya, I guess that is a bit vague. So one interesting experience was when a girl showed up that was totally not like her picture and was a bit heavier than expected. She also brought a friend, which was odd... but she said it was her first online date so I get that. She was actually pretty cool and we hung out for a few hours (all three of us) and ended up going back to their house and drank some more. Nothing sexual happened since I wasn't physically attracted to her, but we are still friends.
I mer my fiancé on tinder. He was my 4th date. I only met the other people once and ran away in the middle of the meal. (guys are sometimes not who they portray themselves to be)
So for me it was good. I was on tinder for a month.
I found a great long term girl on tinder it dident work out after a year but you can actually meet good people I mean it been a year since we broke up and I am still missing her like hell so i guess love can be found there but love always has a cost
Only got scammed 😂
But if you are smart you will have no problem
If you are cleaver enough even dating sites isn't that bad. Just know when they lie. Take your time before getting attached and it might work out for you. I got cheated in a Long distance relationship that's why it's hard for me to advise people to date online 😂
But there are people who met online and have kids now and happily married 😆 so we never know.
And even I don't have friend I only know people but they are selfish like all of us.
I would say it's mixed but mostly good. It's a drag to actually find someone I click with but the people I do click with have been great.
Depends on what you count as bad.
Have stumbled into real characters on the female side. a lot of them.
Also stumbled into a couple of decadent ones and good ones.
On a average female's tends to show a very bad side of the female group that creates real problems for those that aren't in that group of characters.
Also there are mostly what was called bottom scrapings amongst females on online dating services. nothing to bring to the table that are quality.
Bad for me cause of all the scammers trying to get me to join sex sites
I don't know what to tell you. Most girls on the sites I used, are usually there to promote their Instagram profile, or are in it for the number of likes. You send a message, and they don't respond.
I have never used dating sites in my life. Also it doesn't work in my area
conservative govt
Probably because I wasn't ever looking for a serious relationship and only wanted friends for fun and sex I never gave one of those sites a try.
Okay ish, just got to be patient and ignore all the rotten apples
Good that’s how I met my boyfriend almost two years ago :) you have to try a lot though
Bad, so many bisexual girls and sluts on there that are extremely picky. Even when you match with many women they talk to you like a robot and are not worth any attention nor worth getting to know. Men should never use them, don’t boost the female ego. I’ve been on a couple dates I ended up becoming friends as you will never find a beautiful, educated sweet girl on them.
I'm in elite singles dating site and I get more likes but nothing having bad luck with this dating site.
I now despise dating sites. I’ve seen how women mentioned that they actually went on dates with men that they met on dating sites. I’ve met a bunch of scammers
I don’t use dating sites. I have heard so many gory stories. I’d rather meet a person. Then you see what they look like get an understanding of how they act and see if you have any spark.
I don’t like them. Just a waist of time
Pretty mediocre really.
i far prefer just being out in the pub or similar.
real world stuff is better than apps.
No one ever seemed to notice me, so kind of B and C at the same time.
They feel too artificial, like ordering seafood.
Face to face interactions with strangers is hard but still the best option.
Haven't used those sites since I was a teen. But when I did, it was overwhelmingly bad.
I feel like most of the time girls expect guys to carry on the convo, but a convo is made from both parties contributing. It's annoying. Like, I'm not a clown to amuse/entertain these females
Bad, considering the results. I have no result at all, women on these sites are extremely picky, they want everything, they want perfect guys, but guys who will never ask anything from them.
Why are people obsessed with vilifying date sites? If you don’t like them get out and get a life. Find someone the old fashioned way.
Overall I say not worth the time. It's too much money for lackluster service and a ton of flakes.
Pof plenty of fish is completely free
Oh you mean ego booster/ scam artist apps?
Dating apps didn't exist when I got with my girlfriend. I do sometimes wonder if I would get any matches or be a complete failure but I'll never find out.
bad, people just dont reply
sadly.. in this app, i didn't get any dating offer other than "🖕👌📲". 😂
Wow.
Id much rather just approach a woman irl even though I'm pretty shy
Respect
ma man
