I have used dating sites in 2007-2008, 2015, 2017, and 2019-2020. There are minor annoyances like scammers and women who are obvious golddiggers, but there are many genune and sincere women who are hoping to meet a good guy for a serious relationship. Online dating is different from traditional dating and it is a horrible mistake to not take that into account. It takes time and effort to create a profile tha will capture the interest of a prospective companion and many people complain that online dating doesn't work when they have never put forth much effort to make it work.
There are guys who will tell you that online dating is a fraud but I think most of them are butthurt boys who would rather blame online dating than take responsibility for their own shortcomings. In fact, online dating is now the most common way that people meet for long term relationships. I met my current girlfriend on zoosk in December 2020, we are now living together, and I am contemplating proposing to her at Christmastime.
Online dating works if you make the effort to make it work.
It's kinda become an actual thing you need like a job website except here we have dating websites charging people and sometimes you can get banned with no reason. Which means for some your literally done for! I think you get to know someone very well this way and actually have a better chance meeting someone who's genuinely into what your into Vs going to a bar or club. However the down side is mess up just one little bit and you'll never hear from the person again. Because there too many options.
As for me when it comes to dating I prefer meeting someone OFFLINE rather than meeting them ONLINE on a dating site. I tried a few sites back in the day & to be honest it was like Halloween & that was some scary shit. On dating sites it was like a circus & I felt like throwing peanuts at the characters. The girls had photoshopped photos, their pictures were ten years old & it was one selfie after another with filters, dog noses & shit like that & to top it off what you thought was a girl wasn’t.
I will agree with you about unscrupulous characters. Some of the people I've seen on some of those sites shave my dog's butt and teaching it to walk backwards.
I think they can be helpful for some people but they are not helpful for everyone. Firstly because many of them are costly and they want to pay for anything. Secondly if you are in introvert you still have to keep and entertain a woman´s interest because otherwise the conversation ends soon. Thirdly many female profiles I came in contact with wanted to transfer communication to other apps like Pinterest, Tumblr or social media apps I don´t use and not message within in the app for no good reason. Forthly I don´t any person that has found their partner online. All my guy friends have found their partner through a hobby or at a friend´s party/dance class whatever and they have still been in happy relationships for years. Even if I used a dating app I wouldn´t date nationwide or international but just within my state in Germany because I don´t need tons of options.
I used Lavalife back when it was the only one around. It was before Facebook & essentially was Facebook same layout and everything. It let you create profiles in three categories Casual dates, Serious Dating like wanting partner, and just fucking. I made one in each eventually found my wife.
It's ok if you don't want to use them, just tell me why 😛 Why? Because they're expensive, they cost money and there is no guarantee that the person on the other side will meet up with you or even talk to you. But hey, if you feel it's worth trying then go ahead 😉
I tried a bunch. For a longtime, I used Plenty of Fish, but then they sold out.
I switched to OK Cupid. I sent 3 emails per day for 100 days to profiles. From those I got 7 potentials, then narrowed it down to 3 ladies, one of whom became my girlfriend for a year.
After 2 years on G@G, and a few ladies; I met someone, but it didn't workout. And here I am!
Never worked for me... All they worked for was sexting/voice memos pictures... to get something more serious never worked as 99.9% were asking to "buy their nudes"... so yeah...
Dating sites are okay if the people take the time to correctly use them. I met my SO on a dating site, my son met his wife on one, and I know several couples who met on dating sites.
All the free sites seem to be full of fake Earthlings. Want your money and rubbish, and others just leave. I don’t want to lose any dough for the one where I must pay, in addition to that I’ve no credit card.
okcupid was good, and I met my boyfriend through friends.

I have found some of the best people are on Eastern Europe dating sites. Some unique people that I've seen. Very enticing. I'm not familiar with the men but the women are great knockouts.
Use https://tineye.com/ on all the photos you're drawn to, as many of the attractive East European photos are just male scammers. Tineye will show you which photos have been harvested from the Internet.
@Guardian45 I don't visit sites for East Europeans, but when they reach out to me, I generally find their photos to be fake. My profiles specifically state I'm not interested in long-distance relationships, so they're wasting their time reaching out anyway.
The only one I've ever been able to talk to someone on is eHarmony. I hate online dating really but it's the only way I could meet someone. It's just the nature of how the sites work.
