So long story short I very recently got involved with my sister's ex. They broke up a few months ago and were living together he was supporting her financially. They were together around 5 years or so. We have been talking for about 2 months and just met up over the weekend. He's 39 and wants to see me regularly and exclusively and has offered a lot of things.

I don't have a sister, but I would never - the same goes for friends' exes.
Never would I do that and especially not when they've been together for that long - and it's been such a short time since they broke up.

Also, the age component of your situation worries me. He sounds like a predator.

Would be very awkward at gatherings, I mean if you have feelings I'd say pursue them. Age is just a number as long as your both consenting adults. Just be aware, it may cause problems with your sisters or other family members.
