Should I call my ex back?

My ex called me yesterday and I went into a shock staring at my phone while it was ringing. I broke off contact and blocked him out of nowhere because of my fear of commitment and getting hurt. We were not in a good place either. Now he called after one month. I wrote him a message after a few hours because did not want to seem desperate. He read it after a few hours but did not respond. Should I wait or just call back?

This is a major difference between men and women, men don't keep going after the bad chic that hurt us, fuck that we find peace somewhere else but you women seem to keep going back to the same jerk over and over until one day a simp comes by and you use him until Chad comes back. Ok who hurt you lol? We woman are usually emotionally more invested then men that’s why. I don’t know if you read my question correcly, I said we were not in a good place. Both of us where no angels.
