If there is a silence in a date where your date is staring at you do they want to kiss you?

I went on a first date with someone I recently met. He was sitting next to me and we had a great conversation. However then there was a silence of about a min which felt very long as we stared into each other’s eyes. It felt a bit awkward so I tried to break the ice by asking about his eye colour. Then he put his arm around my shoulder and I rested my back against him. Was he waiting for a kiss I’m not sure but could be? Also it was at a cafe and I was assuming he would be embarrassed to do that anyway.

I agree with @nachosaresexy. He was probably trying to kiss you but the way he was trying to make it happen was actually very awkward because he didn’t even put into consideration if you are a fan of pda or not.

@asker some people have no regards to pda. One of my exes literally had no problem with making out with me outside of a movie theater. Now that I’ve matured a little I would consider that action actually cringey

Yeah possibly, but in a public setting like that can be pretty awkward. I'm not a fan of PDA in general. But if it happens next time in a more private setting, then yeah he'll probably make the move... you can help be very slightly leaning in closer to him.

Does he seem pretty confident/outgoing in general? If so then he'll probably be comfortable making the first move with stuff like first kiss, but if not then he might be waiting for you to give him a more obvious signal that you want him to kiss you, or some guys even hope a girl will initiate the first kiss.

I think he’s definitely not shy. He doesn’t seem desperate though. I don’t thinking kissing on a first date is a good idea as you want to get to know them first. I’m glad it didn’t happen. He should wait hahaha

Yeah that makes sense. I think a respectful basic kiss can be a great ending to a first date, but I do agree with you it's delicate territory. Generally seems best to at least hold off till the next date so that it doesn't seem desperate or pressuring at all.
