Online dating safety question?

This guy wants me to connect with him via whatsapp or use my iPhone. He claims to be in the Air Force in Turkey right now.

If I give him my whatsapp number is this going to allow him to track my whereabouts? Or, if I used my iPhone could track me versus my android phone?

Or, is it possible he just wants to video chat? And, I am just overreacting?

I'm a bit hesitant and nervous. I want to be safe.

I never trust anyone that says they're overseas. Period. I don't trust anyone that says they're next door unless I see them in person to see that they're a REAL person and verify they're who they say they are.

What you'll take from that as a cautionary tale, is up to you.

I never give my number for texting or email address for anything, because any tidbit you give, ends up on the dark web. Once a scammer finds out anything, it's logged. Combine a tidbit here and a tidbit there and YOU have a problem.

Phone numbers and email addresses are connected to names, that are connected to birthdays, that are connected to other sensitive personal information, and all it takes is one slip with the wrong person.

If you aren't local, as in close enough to meet in person, or you try to lure me to some other website or app, you're barking up the wrong tree. You'll meet me first, before I pass anything out. If that's not good enough, you're not as interested in me as you claim to be and want me to think.

Give NOTHING extra out, aside from what's already posted online, PERIOD. No pix, no phone, no email, no chat apps, NOTHING. If you can't meet with them in a public place with lots of people for your safety, then it's a no go. If they're really that interested, they'll talk to you right there, as you already are, not try to get you to go somewhere else to chat, or to send a message to an email link. If they're really interested in you they'll agree and show for a meet.

If not, well, you might have saved yourself an empty bank account, or a fraudulent credit card charge, or worse, like a new vehicle or home purchase. Not to mention, the ruining if your credit score and all of the things you'd need to do to fight and undo it.

Trust NOTHING online!!!

Last time I had someone request me to do that, the worse that happened was he sent me videos saying he loves me. He never seen my face or know what i eat but anywaaaays... don't think he can track you.

If they say they want you on whatsapp, it just means they wanna talk to you privately. But if he shows any signs of being too creepy, abort. Abort like a mofo with the cops on her ass for being a prositute.

He absolutely could track you, because there are creeps out there who do that sort of thing. You’re questioning his motives though, and I don’t think that’s good means for the start of a new conversation. If you’re interested, it’s okay to tell him that you’d rather keep your convo where it’s at, and get to know him a little bit better. You can never be too safe online.

@Agape93 Not familiar with WhatsApp. Does that track location? I’m guessing you could turn that off.
