Working with an ex…?

The guy I’m seeing works with his ex girlfriend. They were together for about a year but they broke up about 10 months ago because she had 3 children and a husband (long story) and realised they weren’t going to work out.
Anyway they see each other every day at work and text each other every day including weekends.

I’ve asked him if he still has feelings for her and he's said ‘we’re just friends, there’s nothing going on between us’. I want to trust him but one of his female colleagues (who I’m friends with) has told me to be careful and she doesn’t want to see me get hurt.

What do I do from here?
