How important is it to you that your partner gets along with your family?

Here I personally separate my blood relatives (awful, toxic people and I don't talk to them, I don't even know most of them) from my family.

The only blood relatives in my family is my mom and my sister, everyone else, my aunts, uncles and cousins, aren't blood related to me but the best family I could ever wish for. They were there for us from day one.
So for me it's really important that the people in my life get along and I'm a family person.

Extremely! Seriously, the man I marry instantly becomes part of MY family, so if my family didn’t like him, it would merely cause me to spend less time with my family. (Obviously since I don’t want to expose the man I love to the toxicity of my mother not liking him) but I would do everything within my power to stop whatever misunderstanding caused this rift. And I assume it was a misunderstanding, because my family have liked every boy I ever brought home for an introduction! But it would definitely be a major cause of stress to me.

considering most of family is made up of men, it’s very important. plus i think my family is pretty ’chill’ on a lot of things so i wouldn’t wanna be with someone who doesn’t get along with them anyways since we’re very close and have the same morals..

My cousin, Joyce, got involved with a guy, Bret, who eventually got so pissed at her dad for a simple joke he told that Bret refused to let her have anymore contact with her family ever again!! She spent her last 20 or 30 years not getting to see or talk to her family!! Last time I saw her, we were still kids in our early teens!! She died of cancer of the brain about 10 years ago in her mid 40's or early 50's.

Well I don't get along with my family the smoothest, so I'd maybe find it weird more than anything. :D
Also I wouldn't expect them to put themselves in situations, where they have to deal with annoying people without impulse control all too often.

Very important, when you're married your families become one. Besides, my families values helped me choose what I wanted in a partner. But then I knew they would like him since they knew him long before we dated. And it wouldn't put me off being with him just if they didn't like him. So not the most important, but up there.

i can't blame them if they ever disliked one of mine. All i know is, i won't let either of them bad mouth the other. I will go off on a guy who crosses the line with my fam and I will go off on my fam if they disrespect my guy

IT. IS. IMPORTANT. I have a chill family. They are very welcoming and instantly want to get to know you, and invite you in, and to family functions because whenever someone brings someone into the family, it's a serious thing rather than just some date you're on. I don't have toxic family members or ones who just try to be rude for no reason, so knowing that, it would be incredibly difficult for me to like someone who told me they didn't get along with my family.

She just needs to get along good with my dad and aunt tbh. If she can't it's a red flag since both are kind hearted, easy going, and chill. If you can't get along with them you basically have serious social issues you need to resolve.

As important as these people are to me. People in the west in general have little regard for their parents compared to most other ethnicities and I believe it makes our society weaker. Having a strong family structure makes you pretty much invincible.

Very. I don't want to be a holiday relative. And she shouldn't have to be one either. Family is one of the biggest and best parts of my life, and if I join another and start another with my partner then it only grows, not shrinks.

Id rather they got along. I don't want to be caught in the middle of everything. While I don't like how some of my partners family acts at times I still like them and get along with them, they just don't get along with eachother lol
