I would say just be cool and his friend and if he is interested you never know his friends might just tell him you two are a good match. Well it’s up to you. You can break all contact, which would be the hardest at first. But get better with time. Or, if you are close with this group of friends and really enjoy hanging out, you can continue and maybe something will change someday. Just accept the fact that it may not.

If you are "one of the boys", you are in his close circle of friends.
Given that you have a vagina and likely the others don't, this means he will get closer to you.
