Why is my boyfriend putting lol in most of his texts?

My boyfriend all of a sudden for the last couple weeks, keeps putting lol in most of his texts, even if they aren’t supposed to be funny. Any thoughts on why? I am thinking he’s trying to keep things light but I don't know

I've asked him if everything is ok between us, or is something was going on- and he said everything is fine.

I’m not the type of person to usually use emojis or emoticons, my boyfriend does… But my way of showing I am happy, laughing, or just joking, I will say “lol” or “lmao” because then it doesn’t sound so serious or boring. The “lol” makes up for the lack of emojis and emoticons.

I think he's lightening the mood. I catch myself doing it a lot because of my social anxiety. I don't want to accidentally offend anyone even though there no reason to offend anyone with my texts 🙃 that could be it but it seems harmless

You're probably overthinking it. I say "lol" a lot because I don't want people to think I'm mad or uninterested in the conversation.
