Why do I feel sad and jealous when someone has a “one that got away?” Does everyone have one?

I’ve never been in line or a relationship so it cuts pretty deep that literally everybody I know has one of those

I've had three relationships and none of them were worth the time. The first guy didn't take any time with me like at all ever unless if I went with him and his friends and they treated me like I was some object. Second guy was like that too but he only wanted to spend time with me because he was trying to get stuff from me. The third guy was like both of those guys but a whole lot worse and he physically and emotionally hurt me so much. I honestly wish I'd never met them. But apparently the first guy moved away because it made him upset to see me according to his friends. The second guy also moved and started doing drugs according to his friends. The third guy moved but not farther away he actually moved closer to me and has even found a job near where I live and I've seen him. So now I'm gone for a few months where he shouldn't be able to find me. I really wish that I didn't choose to date any of them. A couple months ago a guy I've liked since elementary asked me out and I said sure. Turns out he's just playing games. So now it's my turn to play. I didn't tell him I was leaving. I only sent him a text after I arrived at my cousins that I was in another state and having fun. He didn't used to text me. But since I started ignoring him he's texting me constantly. But I do know that I should've just avoided it in the first place. Not one of them truly had good intentions at all. To all those idiots I was just a doll to them that they thought they could use however they wished. I broke each of them off. They're not worth my time. I'm not gonna waste my time on such imbeciles anymore. I'd much rather be in the situation you're in. I'd rather never have anyone.

Because you feel like you’ve missed out on something and I used to feel that way until I got into my first real relationship at 22. As in first serious relationship. It really doesn’t mean anything and now I know that I don’t care to be with anyone from my past. I’m focussed on the future and I will love the man who comes into my life and treats me right. He will mean more to me than my first boyfriend, the first guy I said I love you to or whatever.

Well don't feel too jealous because 99% of the time, the feelings aren't mutual and the other person usually wants nothing to do with them lol. But yeah I think everyone has a similar story, it may not be "true love" though? I think it's exaggerated and over romanticized by many. I have one, although she was never "mine" or was there any romantic relationship. But it was a dating thing that never really happened for various reasons and I felt something with her even with that which I haven't with anyone else. So she "got away" in that it never happened and it can never be "fixed" now as I have no idea where she is (moved).

It's quite understandable you would feel sad. No matter how much he is pining for someone he cannot have, it is important for you to understand he doesn't want to be with you. I'm very sorry because I know this hurts, yet it would be best if you find another man, one who you like and who likes you in return.

It was always a possible life partner but I guess an upside is your able to look back and also consider if they really would have been a good match. So maybe the upside is also the downside. You didn't get to find out but maybe that also saves you from being unavailable when a more fitting person comes along

Yeah, life is one big learning experience. So their is bound to be a few regrets in your history. But something's and people come into your file for a reason, and they leave for a reason as well. It's not always bad, just seems that way.

I guess almost everyone has one or more. I know i have a few, and it sucks.
As you described it's hard to have feelings for another girl. I don't forget people easily and i think it's even more hard for me because of it.
