I’m a woman and I’ve always been a people pleaser. My family didn’t approve of the last guy I truly liked. They kept me away from him. (I come from a religious background) im very bitter and angry since then

Now my family wants me to go on a blind date with a man they picked for me. They gave him my number.

He keeps texting me. I keep ignoring him and I don’t know how to tell I’m not interested. He’s seems like a nice guy so I don’t know what to say.

I feel it’s bad karma for me to keep him on read. I want to be honest. What do I text him? Should I lie and say I’m seeing someone else. Can someone write the text for me?

You should say. "Hi. I know my parents gave you my number for us to get to know each other. I'm sure they mean well by trying to help their daughter find a nice guy. I thank them for that but right now, I am not in the best place to even attempt anything like relationship. It's too soon for me. You seem like a really nice guy but I'd rather not lead you on. I hope you find a great girl."

"I'm not interested in a relationship with you" has worked for me. It's truthful, neutral toned, and leaves no room for misinterpretation, willful or otherwise.
