I lost all of my friends? Was it my fault?

I've been friends with these girls for years. We recently befriended a new girl into our group. So this girl and I liked this same guy. I knew him first but she kinda fell for him. She was telling the whole group on how he was handsome and all. So she was acting like they were dating and was all over him. So i played a joke and told him to tell her that he was dating me. Which he does. We did it but we quickly says it was a joke. She gets mad at me and starts to ignore me. She tells all the rest of my friends not to talk to me. So for the past few days my friends were telling her its not a big deal and its a joke for a while but they eventually turned on me too. So now im alone with no friends. I asked the guy if he and her were dating and he shook his head no several times.
I lost all of my friends? Was it my fault?
