Yes. I won’t date anyone who calls themselves a progressive or uses any of the other Leftie buzz words. If they start talking about equity and inclusivity I know it’s time to run, lock myself in my house, and watch out for the “peaceful protests.”

I dated a big Lefty in the past. It was absolutely miserable. Every little fucking thing I said was deconstructed and turned against me. I call a guy a pussy well then I must be a misogynist lol. Offer to do heavy yard work around the house we rented? I’m being a patriarchal male invalidating her with my macho benevolent sexism. I’m twice as strong as you.

Please just let me pick up the heavy thing without telling me that I’m a sexist for doing it.

I hold some rather... let's just say, *unusual* political views, so meeting a woman who held my views, especially in my age group, would be... suspicious.

At any rate, the answer to your question really depends on what exactly it is you're trying to get out of "dating." Back when I still wanted a wife, I would have said, "I just want her to be on board with the way I choose to raise the kids." But today, I suppose I would change that to, "I want an apolitical woman with strong religious and familial loyalties."

Political opinions are strongest in conflicted, contested, democratic states, and weakest in stable, autocratic states. I want stability in my relationships, not conflict and chaos.

I don't see how we could get along if we had majorly different political views. In fact, I couldn't deal with someone who was dumb enough to be politically partisan. Both parties are corrupt and evil. But I'm not advocating being apolitical, either. I advocate being informed and engaged.

What I find MORE attractive is, if she has opposing views but can articulate herself well, because I am always up for a stimulating political debate.
She also has to be willing to accept me for my views even though she disagrees. (For the record, I can do that too)

It definitely makes things easier and someone with the same or roughly leans in that direction will probably hold the same values and morals you do and value similar things at least there's a higher chance of that being the case then if you dated someone who swung the opposite way.

Yes. Political views are often a reflection of their moral and ethical views. I have NEVER mentioned politics when I'm dating someone, but it becomes pretty obvious within a few dates.
