2.4K opinions shared on Dating topic. I have and to be honest that has happen with just about every relation ship I've been in. And what sucks is from the very first day I know this and I know it's not going to work and you have sex and all of a sudden you're going with each other and you have those thoughts of this is not going to last this is what's going to happen and we really shouldn't do this but nobody listens not even myself and it goes for a couple years and it's fun and then the reason that you said it wasn't going to work appears and you know you're in trouble then because it's just not working anymore I don't know why I do this in the last past two and a half years though I had opportunities that the same thing and I just don't go for it I just say no I'm not going to this again
I think for each and every single one of us in the very beginning we ask ourselves what's going to happen and we answer ourselves that we know the answer but for some reason we just let it go and what happens happens and the worst part is is when this is happening is when you might be the girl that you're really supposed to be with but you can't be because you're in a relationship and you can't at least I can't having an affair or cheat or anything like that sell it is what it is but at the same time I need to listen to myself better00 Reply

Never. Even in the just talking phase if I could tell she was more serious and I didn't have intentions of moving into a relaxed with her I would be honest about that fact.
One girl in particular stands out actually. She wanted to move too quickly for me, I just got out of a relationship. And after about 2 months I got back out there again because I thought I was ready
And I was ready to play the field, but not to get into something serious. This girl wanted to go right to a relationship basically inside of two weeks and I ended up having to let her down as best I could
Because I went into it saying I need to move slow because I'm still dealing with some shit from my last relationship. And she went along with that... for two weeks. Then systemically tried making it more and more serious. Talking about changing our statuses on social media, inviting me over go meet her family.
Just too much too soon so I had to end it. She knew why but it still hurt. Sucked for me too because I didn't want to part ways but I would have just been going through the motions. Heart wouldn't have been in it and she as well as I both deserved better00 Reply
+1 yUnfortunately yes… before people judge me, I’d like to say to my defence I was about 16-18 at the time and two of those relationships were that way.
I wasn’t playing around with them as much as made them assume it was long-term and serious and as they were a lot older than me I thought that they would know that because of my age I naturally wasn’t as serious (which is dumb to think back as how would they know) also it’s not fair for them. I didn’t cheat or anything just didn’t care for them much and when they told me they loved me for instance, then I’d get cold.
But now I would never do that as I just don’t see the point. If I wanted a companion I would.. not a boyfriend or girlfriend for that.. that only ends badly00 Reply

+1 yI mean, I've taken chances at relationships I didn't really know were going to work.
They grew on me with time.
But neither worked, as I kinda expected from the start. But I had a feeling they would still be worthwhile and I would learn a lot and grow through them (not because of them).
And I wanted to try. And I did. Hard.
Probably stayed in those relationships longer than I should have.
Mission accomplished, though; I have learned a lot about myself, and my expectations and hopes for relationships.10 Reply

+1 yMany years ago, when I was a young and naive 23, I was in a relationship like this. The problem was that I like having her in my life to the point where I ended up madly in love with her, and she said she loved me. Then she turned off and SHE was the one who said she "just didn't think it would work," and she insisted that it WASN'T that she had met someone else. That was not a very helpful or satisfactory answer as far as I was concerned, but it was what it was. I was badly hurt, but I suppose it was my own fault. I learned a few lessons from that!

+1 yNot really
You could say I've done something similar though but not exactly that. There was someone who I really liked and we were together. I I wouldn't say that I knew the relationship was going to fail but not too long after the relationship I started to question how long it would last I wasn't totally out of Hope but I didn't know if it was going to fail or not. Wasn't necessarily because one of us fell out of love but more that time was kind of a stressor between us and despite caring for each other I couldn't continue with all the stresses and so I did eventually break up with her kind of wish I did it sooner though and in a better way.02 Reply- +1 y
In case you're wondering this was a bit over a year ago I think and she was a college student. She also had a part-time job so as you can imagine we didn't have a lot of time together we did try to make things work out but they just didn't. I do think of her sometimes but that's about it.

Worth note we were together in a very odd time of my life
I was transitioning from a serial romantic with a silver tongue to a shut in with little need for love and a depressingly low charisma
There are a lot of couples in the U. S. living together that are in failed relationships and won't leave now because they can't afford to live on their own with this economy.
Like has nothing to do with it.
A lot of marriages like that too.
People will invite you to waste your time.00 Reply
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yI haven't put anyone in this position. But I have recently been through it. It's very hurtful, and has caused me to have trust issues. Now I know he only wanted me in his life to pass time. He said and did everything to make me believe there there was hope for us. It's made me question my own perception, intuition and naivety

Asker+1 yi agree and i am currently trying to figure out if I am in this situation.
Opinion Owner+1 yI really hope you discover you aren't ❤
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yYes. I'm married and I kept stringing this girl along under the premise were were just "friends". I figured, my wife knows her- all is good. Well, we weren't just friends. And when I realized what confusion that was causing for her and how selfish it was to juggle multiple hearts, I ended it.

Nope. That would be a horrible thing to do to someone.
00 ReplyI think it happens when good people are together but know they may not be able to maintain the relationship forever. But in a way it’s a sign of love
