Why do I like my coworker so much?

Coworker in a different department ended up giving me her number and we text here and there. I notice she’s very guarded. I want her to open up but she never does (it’s been one week of trying) should I back off and leave her alone? She almost cried once during Convo in person bc she admitted she bottles up her feelings. It makes me want to know her even more. But she’s not receptive to my trying to get to know her that much. I told her I just want to be friends. But is she just not interested? Or just super guarded

Perhaps ask her if she'd like to meet up with you outside of work? She may feel extra pressure when speaking to you at work.
If she declines your request then it may indicate that she's not interested. Don't push it too much, if she likes you she'll come to you in her own time
