Is it too early to say I love you to my boyfriend?

Me and my boyfriend have been dating for almost a month now, but we’ve known each other and have been close friends for almost a year.

I know that usually you’re supposed to wait a couple of months, but does that still apply when you’ve known each other for a while beforehand? Should I just wait?

I’ve been feeling this way towards him since we became friends though, so I don’t know. It always feels like it’ll slip out so naturally all the time. He always tells me how he wants to say it too but he bites his tongue lol.
