What are your thoughts on splitting the bill on the first date?

I either do "we each pay for what we ordered" or "split the bill 50/50 (provided we both ordered almost the same amount and it isn't one-sided)." I don't do anything else, nor do I pay for women's dates. I'm not attractive enough to be suckered into being a simp, and money don't grow on trees.

I have never been at ease with the American idea that the man has to "take care" of the women and carry her around as if she were a small child. I thought that whole feminist revolution was about women not needing men and all that.

That's my ideal. It leaves no chance for a prospective Nice Guy to try to play the "but I bought you dinner" card, it shows I can pay my own way, and I can order whatever I like (we're getting separate, not splitting no matter what).

Fortunately, no. I've dealt with other kinds of obnoxious behavior but we were in high school, so it's kinda par for course.

He was stalkerish and claimed we were dating when we never were. And he got my cousin as a substitute teacher once and spent his whole lunch hour cornering her and describing me as "the goddess of all women". I never lived that down... He was so cringe.

I kinda give off that "don't fuck with me" vibe, though. Historically, I wouldn't even go out with a guy who gave me Nice Guy vibes.

And now I'm also not interested in men, so it's kinda moot point now

I sincerely think it should be a must for every date, but it is up the girls asking for splitting the bills, since personally I would offer every time and NEVER ask for splitting, in my country is considered very rude for the guy asking for that.

There are definetly ways to go on low budget, like toing for tea or coffee instead, then sure it doesn't cost that much no big deal.
