Ok I know that "beauty is in the eye of a beholder" , "every person is beautiful in his/her manner, "" the most important is the soul" blabla I know all that.
Now! Lets be honest here:dont you see some couple and sometimes think"how did she even had His kids... eww" or"how can He date her, she looks like an ugly whale"
How people who are ugly get married and date and have kids
I mean... HOW AND WHY

Guys often get "locked in" baby trapped for example. Then they become whale later on.
Other thing with guys is lack of social skills, inability to land anything better or anything at all, so they just go for what they got to not be lonily anymore, thats why u can see hot guys with ugly chicks the guy just lacks skills to approach more women to land something better so settles for whale instead.

In girls case there more often financial side involved or higher status thing.
Sometimes guy just have that behaviour character that she likes and looks mean less for her at that point. Rough dominant guy that gets her good in bed and she will be more forgiving on looks side.
Then again most cases its just manipulation and she's using guy for some benefit.

It's very subjective, someone I find attractive might not seem attractive to others.
And I have experienced this that we don't really fall in love with looks, we fall for person.
What we feel for the looks is not love, it is lust.
