Me and this girl had a really positive first date, although it is not totally clear if as friends or something more. Today she asked me what I thought of it and in a small string of texts I ended up telling her I was really glad to have gone and that even when we were just waiting for the rain to stop I was still really happy. So I basically just gave myself away. To which she replied “it’s ok haha you don’t have to tell me this” and the conversation just kind of lost steam afterwards. I’m trying to be open about my intentions but I think I might’ve just shot myself in the foot on this one. Advice would be appreciated :)

You can still fix it though by walking it back, casting some doubt by couching your behavior is just general optimism. That is if she mentions it to you. If she doesn't then just kind of pretend it didn't happen, give her (and yourself) space (a few days) to process and when you've found yourself feeling bored and you want to see her again, then text her an invitation. Stay on message, that you want to hang out, and don't get dragged into expressing yourself over text.

They can be put off by any number of things, including minor and unimportant things, so you can't live your life in fear of that. The biggest danger is that you don't make your feelings known and she decides to date someone else.

As long as you didn’t start talking about long term relationships, moving in, marriage or kids you should be fine lol. If being a little real was too much for her then it wasn’t meant to be anyway. I would be a little more guarded and less open with her if you get another date though. Need to keep a little bit of a stoicism going.

See, there you go... For me, I get two in and then transition into , "can or do you like jokes-I do but im not good at it"-Is what I want to hear.
