People just talk about inner beauty and they never really admit that they are into superficial physical appearances, but we all know the truth. "Looks do matter for the first impression at least".
So that's very often that you'd get attracted to a good looking one rather than some average looking one.
Then comes the personality, if the good looking one has a nice personality, you'd want to go further and if he turns out to be a jerk, you'll leave.

On the other hand, the average looking one may have chances too but only if you know the person or got to know about his personality already.
Any average looking person with a great personality still have less chances.
