At what age did you feel you should date?

By the time I was in the 9th/10th grade around the age of 14 to 15, almost everyone around me had started dating eventually. It was weird. Like a sort of new trend among kids nowadays. The hormonal changes in both our bodies from the newest discovery to our bodies i. e puberty made us boys different than how we were less than a year ago.

In addition, the girls in our classes looked different now too, naturally, as we were all growing, and for some, the ones who we saw as weird and annoying were now actually attractive. Same goes for the guys even though now that I think about it, most of us had cracking voices, weirdly abnormal heights, acne outbreaks and ratty newly sprouted facial hair. I think that's around the time when I started seeing kids from my class and/or from other higher classes becoming "a thing". Personally, I was a loser pretty much back in school, so my chances with any pretty girl from school were pretty much blown. And besides, the prettier ones were already taken by the taller, more stronger, hot jocks previously the same bullies who didn't even spare them during recess but eh, whatever.

They'd laugh and say "haha who'd wanna date a loser like you? You're nothing but a scrawny runt" (I didn't get my growth spurt in until after I was 17ish so I was pretty much lanky and 5'4 around that time), so I showed them up when I started hanging out with this slightly younger girl from a class lower to mine. She was one of those cute juniors in every school who'd catch my eye during recess, smile and then look away. So one day, I picked myself up, went over to her empty bench during recess and we pretty much started to hit it off. I immediately picked up she liked me back as well because the signals she'd give me were undeniable. And the way she couldn't maintain steady eye contact and kept looking away, giggling like a schoolgirl (ahhh so THAT'S where that phrase comes from), I knew. So we started meeting up every day during recess and after school. She was only a year younger than me in age, but I've always looked younger for my age too, so we pretty much looked like a good couple, and the other kids of my class had NO FRICKIN' IDEA what the hell is happening. A month or two of steady talking and hanging out, she asked me out and we started dating. It lasted 5 years and she was the only real long-term girlfriend I had.

I honestly felt ok dating only very recently, so 26-27 years old.. since I refused every contact with girls for 10 years due to rejections I had in the past when I was very immature and stupid.
Honestly, if I could redo everything, I would date before this age, now it’s very late and I suffer the lack of experience.

I've never been pressured to date. In fact, my parents made sure that I studied well and scored good marks instead of wasting my time away with silly boys who'd come and go. My social circle has always been rather small and we (my friends and I) all have different personalities. I don't associate myself with people who "force" or "guilt" me into doing something I'm not interested in.

I started dating when I was 17, just this year lol. My mother had told me that I should not date until I was 21, but since my ex was a friend of our family, my parents agreed to let us date. It was something that just happened. Although, I mustn't lie, I had developed feelings for him way before he did for me. But he was the one who initiated everything (I was scared to ruin our friendship). Anyway, he was a complete gentleman at first, but our relationship went south lightning fast because he had severe depression, fights with his dad and stressed about college/his dad's business. I don't want to elaborate on what happened between us, but needless to say, we ended on bad terms.

I'm planning to date again when I feel like it.
